2019 Sauvignon Blanc
VINEYARD AND WINE MAKING
For the third year in a row we are thrilled to be working with the same vineyard located in the remote red hills Southwest of Clearlake, Bad Rat Ranch. A near perfect growing season following a healthy winter rainfall resulted in exceptional fruit. After hand harvesting on September 4th, the fruit was brought to the winery where it was immediately whole cluster pressed. Shortly after being pressed to a chilled tank a white Bordeaux yeast was added. Halfway through the cool fermentation the wine was moved to neutral barrels where the fermentation concluded. After about 6 months in barrel the wine was moved to tank, filtered, then bottled. Bottled 165 cases.
TASTING NOTES
Opens with aromas of fresh Meyer lemon, tangerine, candied lemon peel, with hints of lemon grass, green pineapple, and lemon meringue. Zingy palate opens with upfront fresh lemon, mixed citrus, lemon custard, with touches of vanilla cream, and green tea. Beautiful and crisp, our 2019 SB is tasting superb and will continue to gain in complexity over the coming 1 to 3 years. But who can wait that long?
