Bottled in 2016, the backbone of our California Merlot comes from the Sierra Foothills. The grapes in this region have a long history dating back to the California Gold Rush, a fact we love. Hans Fahden Merlot is a varietal wine distinct in its big fruit notes. Bottled a limited 182 cases.

Tasting Notes

The 2016 California Merlot opens with pronounced notes of plum, fig jam, maple syrup, black cherry, with hints of black licorice and vanilla. The palate follows with soft tannins along with notes of juicy plum and black cherry. It continues to open up with hints of cedar, maple-spiced syrup, and Kirsch.
