2017 Chardonnay

Vineyard and Winemaking

Our 2017 Russian River Chardonnay comes from the heart of the Russian River Valley, not far from Forestville. Another nice growing season allowed us to harvest by hand on September 20. After arriving at the winery, the grapes were whole-cluster pressed to a tank where a cool fermentation began. After the juice had fermented about halfway, the wine was moved to barrels, where the fermentation concluded. We stirred the barrels fortnightly for about 3 months before bottling the wine the following Spring. A lovely Sonoma County Chardonnay with tropical notes. 140 cases bottled.

Tasting Notes

This Hans Fahden Chardonnay opens with notes of fresh nectarines, tangerine blossom, green pineapple, leading to hints of vanilla, maple syrup, and wet stone. The juicy palate unfolds with fruit forward notes of juicy ripe pear, pineapple, and quince, with notes of vanilla custard, caramel, and a long refreshing finish.
