2019 Viognier

VINEYARD AND WINEMAKING

We are pleased to continue working with the Tzabaco Rancho Vineyard in Dry Creek Valley of Sonoma County. We had a fair amount of rain, including some heavy late rains that resulted in lowering the yield in this vineyard. While there was less fruit the quality was very high. We hand harvested August 27th. Once the fruit arrived at the winery it was whole cluster pressed directly to a cool tank. A strain of white Burgundy yeast was added, and a cool fermentation ensued. After about 3 weeks in tank the wine was moved to barrels, 20% new French oak. After about 6 months in barrel the wine was moved to tank, filtered, then bottled. Bottled 80 cases.

TASTING NOTES

Starts off with clear aromatics of pineapple, followed by ripe apple, quince and orange blossoms. Continues on the palate with juicy pineapple, quince, applesauce, with hints of pie spice, lemon zest, and creme brûlée. Complex and flavorful now, our 2019 Viognier will age nicely for the next 2 to 5 years.
